Every parent dreads that awful moment when they realise that they have run out of baby essentials late at night.
A bleary eyed drive to the supermarket is no fun for anyone but with twin daughters it would have been double the trouble for Lorraine and Paul Szraga.
Luckily for the couple their new home at The Maltings in Dumbarton is minutes walk from a petrol station with a Spar and a Costa Coffee – handy for a reviving dose of caffeine after a sleepless night.
Lorraine, who works for the local authority, said: “The location of The Maltings is perfect for us as everything is on the doorstep. It is fantastic to be able to go to our local restaurant and have something to eat and drink and walk home.
“It is ideal for me as I can meet up with my friends from work for a coffee without having to go too far. It means I don’t feel too left out during my maternity leave!”
The couple bravely made the move to the development just a fortnight after Hollie and Chloe were born. They had lived in a two bedroom semi in Alexandria but with two dogs, and two babies on the way they realised that things would be a tight squeeze.
Lorraine said: “We had been thinking about moving and when we found about the twins we knew it was time to get into gear. We looked at lots of new build houses but the finishes of the Walker Group houses stood out and the prices were very competitive.
“Everyone at Walker Group was so helpful and with lots of other families with young children here we feel really at home.”
The family’s new Fitzroy home features a bay windowed lounge with separate dining room, which Lorraine and Paul asked Walker Group to leave open plan. A large kitchen, utility room and downstairs cloakroom complete the downstairs of the property.
Upstairs the master bedroom has an ensuite, three other bedrooms and a family bathroom.
Located a short drive from Loch Lomond, The Maltings has a selection of two, three, four and five bedroom properties, just minutes away from Dumbarton town centre. With a new Premier Inn and Malt & Myre restaurant along with a Costa Coffee café and drive-thru nearby and a family fish diner due to open soon there is lots to do.
A thriving town, Dumbarton is a major tourist destination and hosts the annual Royal Scottish Pipe Band Championships, one of the most prestigious pipe band events in the world.
With no shortage of leisure and outdoor pursuits, families are also well served by local primary and secondary schools, whilst the town’s vibrant theatre and arts community ensure that there is no excuse for being bored.
