New home ‘picture perfect’ for Designer.
Moving into a new property at Walker Group’s The Maltings in Dumbarton really was like coming home for Elaine Whitney and her family.
The graphic designer was visiting family and friends in her hometown when she spotted signs for the development and decided to pay a visit. At the time the family lived in a two bedroom semi in Clydebank and were keen to get settled in a bigger property before Iris (5) started school. Elaine who had never even considered a new build home fell in love with the development and before long she, estate agent husband Richard and their two little girls were happily ensconced in a four bedroom Windsor house type.
She said: “I hadn’t really thought about coming back to Dumbarton but I loved the location of The Maltings on the outskirts of the town and I knew the local primary school had a good reputation as it was the one I went to!
“I really like the layout of the estate as there is lots of space for the girls to go out on their bikes and play and one of Iris’ classmates lives here.”
Another attraction of the property was that nothing needed done – after renovating a number of older properties, Elaine was reluctant to take on a major project. She said: “The thought of doing up another property with two little girls to look after was too much but we didn’t want to compromise on space. Walker Group’s homes really stood out from the other developers in the area as they have such large rooms and windows. The wardrobes are already fitted so you can see the true size of the rooms, which is really important.”
The family chose a four bedroom detached Windsor house type, with attractive lounge, a separate dining room and a large kitchen with informal dining area on the ground floor and four bedrooms on the upper floor. The master bedroom features an ensuite and a family bathroom completes the property.
The house is ideal for the Whitneys as there is enough room for Elaine to work freelance as a graphic designer in the evenings when Iris and Adah (2) are in bed. The family are now happily settled in their new surroundings and are enjoying the benefits of living a short drive from the Loch Lomond Shores development with its shops, restaurants and outdoor attractions.
Elaine said: “We’ve already hired a boat and spent a couple of hours out on the Loch and the girls love the play park and nature trails. We have lots of fun there and it’s just a few miles from where we live.”
